OK, you all wanted the story of how INTRYNSIK got started, so here it goes. The first member of INTRYNSIK to play his instrument, was Harsh. Since I am writing this, I will tell my story. As a kid, I was always beating on things (Don't even go there), and my mom was constantly telling me to stop getting on her nerves. Finally, after alot of convincing, I managed to get her to buy me my first set of drums. They were Premier drums, from the 70's, and they cost us $350.00. I played them for a couple years, and eventually sold them. I ended up leaving for the Coast Guard, and while I was gone one of my best friends, Brian and I kept in touch in touch pretty regularly.

Anyways, he was tellin me about his brother Brad (Woody), and that he had been learning how to play the guitar. He played for me over the phone once, and I was very impressed. I remember making the comment, that maybe when I got out of the military we could play together sometime. In the mean-time, I was in the military for a couple more years and Brads friends, Trevor and Trent Giger, had picked up the Bass, and the Electric Guitar. And then to top it off these two were brothers, and their big brother, Todd Giger, decided that he would sing with them. So, Intrynsik was on its way into Nursing Homes (I am glad I was'nt there for those, I think my Birds Eye Maple drums would have scared the crap out of the old people!).

Intrynsik, or should I say Intrinsic, practiced in the garage, in the Gigers Basement, wherever they could. Finally, they decided to record into Todd Gigers Computer, and it was like Intrinsic unplugged. Then, in fall of 2000, Brian Lockwood was having a wedding reception, and of course all of us were put together through the grace of god. We were talking, and they asked me to consider playing with them (again, Dont go there). But, there was a problem, intrinsic was in Decatur, Illinois, and I lived in Edwardsville, Illinois, about 2 hours away. I said yeah it would be cool, but never expected to actually live up to making that commitment. It was more or less a gesture, like I would like to, but it would never work. I was invited over to Todd's house, I thought it was Trevors house, anyways I was invited over and they let me hear their recording from Todds computer. I was in shock. I saw them play at Festival Days in Girard, Illinois (I missed a LIVE Concert for that! Live the band.). From then on, I was in, I just needed to get a drum set.

A good deal came along, and I bought it. On the 6th practice we recorded our first CD with Barry Billman, at Pieces of Eight Studio in Decatur. While setting up our first website, I ran across a band in Cali. called intrinsic! What a pain in the ass! Well, I used this to our advantage, I was determined to keep the name intrinsic, I liked the sound of it, and so did everyone else. I tried several options, until coming up with INTRYNSIK. I thought it looked awesome, better than the old spelling, and it still sounded good. So few calls later the band approved.

Our first Gig was a Sunday night at Rumors Bar and Grill in Decatur, Illinois. We begged them to let us play for free, and the next thing you know we are playing there a couple times a month, and making good money doing so. After a couple of shows, we got hooked up with Jeff our sound guy. Him and Wood worked together and Jeff is the Mack Daddy behind the board. When you think to your self, man these guys sound good (I know you think that by the way!) remember that the reason we do sound good is Jeff! He could turn a knob the wrong way, and we would sound like total crap! Much Props to him!

Then came our Cheddars deal, and it has been busy ever since. We would like to thank all of the establishments in Decatur for having us, and also our fans for attending. Afterall, the bars would not have us back if it werent for you guys attending!

In 2004 there has been a line up change. Trent has decided to pursue other musical adventures with some friends in St. Louis. This left INTRYNSIK looking for a new lead guitar player. We looked for all of about 2 minutes. Harsh called a close friend, Mark Johnson who he had met through the music scene in the St. Louis Area. Yeah I know, Trent went to St. Louis and we took someone from St. Louis. Mark Johnson is also in his own band called Stone Cat, who has opened for INTRYNSIK, and so have a couple of his other bands. Mark has his Bachelors in Music from SIU, and has been playing for a long time. He fits right in.

In July 2004, Trent Giger stepped back in to play Lead Guitar. He has been missed, and we hope that we can all stay together this time. So long Mark, and good luck with Stone Cat.

Finally, A BIG, Gigantic thanks to the Computer God! SKITZOPATH, another Decatur native, who I used to attend college with. Jason Bertsch designed, built, and spent many hours making our first web page for us. For that we thank you, and owe you many Beers. Since then I (HARSH) have taken over the WEBMASTER role, and the current site is my creation. For that, INTRYNSIK owes me many beers!
